Dear Adele, Jane, Noriaki and Rob

Welcome to the OpenRelief list for discussions around outreach. We will explore two things on this list.

One is about how we explain the concepts behind OpenRelief. While the idea of helping with disaster recovery through balancing technology and what people actually require is simple, we need to formulate a clear way to address our intended audiences. This falls under Jane and Noriaki's area of expertise, communications and PR. I will send a mail to start this discussion shortly with "PR" included in the subject line to make it easy to identify.

The other is about how we design the experience that people have with the OpenRelief solutions we are developing.  This falls broadly under Adele's area of expertise, user experience design. I will send a mail to start this discussion shortly with "UX" in the subject line to make it easy to identify.

Development of the hardware and the software components takes place on another list - developer at openrelief.org - and I can add you to that list if you want.  However, the developer list will focus largely on hardware and relatively low-level functions as we move towards launch, while this list will be focusing on the user-facing side of things. Where we intersect we can cross-post between lists.

Thank you again for expressing your interest and willingness to contribute to this project.  Your help will be invaluable in turning some good ideas into some great solutions.
